Dr. Gourab Chatterjee, faculty member at the School of Liberal Studies, KIIT (Deemed to be University), delivered the keynote address at PALAVER XVIII, an international conference organized by the Centre for Studies in African Literatures and Cultures, Jadavpur University, on 25 March 2025. His lecture, titled “Epistemological Dilemma in Contemporary African Speculative Fictions,” examined two novels, a short story, and a film to explore how contemporary African speculative narratives negotiate between the colonial modes of knowledge and the alternative epistemologies. The conference, themed “Re-configurations: New Pathways, New Horizons,” brought together scholars from across the globe to reflect on emerging trends in African literatures.
