Subarna Bhattacharya

Assistant Professor

"Dr. Subarna Bhattacharya is Assistant Professor of English in the Department of Humanities, School of Liberal Studies, KIIT DU. She has done her graduation and post-graduation from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, and her doctoral studies from University of Calcutta. Her research interests include travel writing studies, Cultural Studies, women’s writing, gender and feminist studies, colonial history and historiography, and memory studies.

Apart from publishing research papers in several peer-reviewed, national and international journals and book-chapters in edited volumes, she has worked on a minor research project, funded by RUSA (UGC) on ‘Women’s travel writings of 19th century colonial India’.

She is part of a transnational research and teaching project titled Intercultural Perspectives on Information Literacy and Metaliteracy (IPILM), hosted by University of Hildesheim, Germany along with University at Albany (State University of New York)), SUNY Empire State College, University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Symbiosis International University (DU) India.

With experience of over eight years in the field of teaching, she has designed and taught several undergraduate and postgraduate courses across both the disciplines of English literature, language and Soft Skills. Enthusiastic and passionate about teaching, she loves to engage with young learners in interactive classroom environments, to help them improve their language skills and develop in them an interest and love for English language and literature. She has also been the co-editor of textbooks of English Literature, English Communication Skills, and Soft Skills. "
