Assistant Professor-II

Dr. Sharda Acharya is Asst. Professor-II in the School of Humanities at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Deemed University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha with the backdrop of more than 13 years of teaching experience with significant milestones as Asst. Prof. in English (under TEQIP-III, NPIU, World Bank Project) at Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, Sarang, Odisha during 2018-19 and Asst. Prof. in English at National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur in 2015. Dr. Acharya holds a PhD from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela and is a Fellow of Indian Council of Social Science and Research. Before joining KIIT, she has had a malange of experience in teaching intermediate students to B.A., M.A, PhD, Engineering and Management students in different institutions in the academia. During her services she has organized several workshops, webinars and guest lectures on diverse areas relevant to UG, PG and PhD students. She has taught various courses at B.A., M.A., B.Sc. and PhD levels, such as Indian Literature in Translation, American Literature, Women’s Writing, British Literature, Language and Linguistics, English Language Teaching, Literary Theory and Language, Literature and Culture. She has also taught courses such as Business Communication, Soft Skills and Technical Writing to the pupils of B.Tech programme. She has held positions of Chief Editor, Programme Coordinator and Coordinator- Twinning Cell at Sri Sri University and Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, Sarang respectively. Currently she is a member of the Outreach Activity team in the Department of Humanities, School of Liberal Studies at KIIT university. She has been instrumental in drafting the course manuals of B.A and M.A Programmes at Sri Sri University, Cuttack. At KIIT she has floated a course titled Indian Literature in Translation as an elective for the 6th semester B. Tech students. She has published several research articles published in books and journals, a few listed in UGC CARE and SCOPUS. She has also functioned as the Subject Matter Expert in English at Tata Consultancy Services Limited. She has also been associated with Centre for Youth and Social Development project to Dr. Acharya has her research interests in English Language Teaching, Communication strategies, Language and linguistics, New Literatures in English and Literary Theory, Business Communication, Soft Skills, Popular Culture, CALL, TBLT, Sociolinguistics. She is supervising a PhD student working on “Workplace English Skills for Law Students: Designing a Functional-Notional Syllabus.” She is also an External Expert Member of Research Advisory Committee (RAC) in the Department of Languages at Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence, Karnataka. Apart from curriculum engagements, she takes interest in other activities too. She has voice-acted for an Indian firm on choices of working women in making homes, on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
