FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (FDP 2021)
THEME: EXPLORING SELF: A NEW PARADIGM IN EDUCATION”

KIIT (Deemed to be University) Bhubaneswar conducts Faculty Development Program every year to keep the faculty members abreast of the latest developments in teaching, pedagogy, research and innovations. It empowers them with knowledge and skill to lead in academics.
KIIT Deemed to be University has successfully conducted a seven days long Faculty Development Program (FDP-2021) on the theme, ‘Exploring Self: A New Paradigm in Education’ from 20 th  to 26 th  June, 2021 on Virtual Mode.

DAY 1: 20.06.2021 INAUGURAL (BY THE INSTITUTION)

Welcoming the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, the Dignitaries and Faculty Members to the program, Prof. Achyuta Samanta congratulated the faculty members for their rapid adaptation to the new virtual mode of teaching-learning and their sincere efforts to keep the students motivated during the pandemic. Speaking on the theme, “Discover Yourself to Explore the World”, he highlighted the importance of National Education Policy, stressing on its rapid implementation in true spirit.

Prof. Samanta briefly shared his continuous quest for knowledge and insatiate desire for social service to help the marginalized population of the society. He referred to Swami Vivekananda’s vision of empowering the downtrodden and marginalized population to transform India from developing to developed nation; and the immense role of faculty members and teachers to achieve and accomplish the goal. He advised all the faculty members to dream big and put up their best efforts to achieve the same through continuous learning. On the occasion, the KIIT Quality Assurance Manual-2021 was released by the Founder.

Prof. Ved Prakash, Chancellor, KIIT-DU stressed the role of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the university to ensure quality teaching and research at the national and international levels. He emphasized that the university’s research focus should be aligned with national and international requirements.

Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty, Vice Chancellor summarized the academic achievements of KIIT during last year and highlighted different initiatives taken by the university to promote excellence.

The FDP Information Brochure-2021 was released by the Chief Guest, Mr. Shingo Miyamoto, Minister (Economic & Development), Embassy of Japan, New Delhi. In his address, Mr. Miyamoto reflected on various aspects of Indo-Japan engagement. He highlighted different aspects of student life in Japan and provided information about the plethora of scholarships and exchange programmes which are available at different levels.

Prof. Ashok Kumar Chawla, Advisor (Japan), East Asia Division, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi, the Guest of Honour, offered an overview of the long history of India and cultural exchange and engagements with Japan on the different aspects of science and technology.

Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Pro Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU shared her experience in governance and experiences with the students. She stressed eliciting curiosity among the students through experiential learning. Speaking on the topic, “Driving Curiosity and Designing Excellence.”

Prof. Chinmoy Kumar Panigrahi, Director, Quality Assurance, KIIT-DU extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries, resource persons and all the faculty members present at the inaugural session.

Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar proposed a word of thanks to all members and dignitaries.

Participants shared their own experience during the valedictory session. The session ended with a vote of thanks by the organizers.
